FARMING & HUNTING
Crabby
To help launch our newest venture, Elm Grove Outdoors, we are featuring one of our favorite stories about hunting the deer which came to be known as "Crabby." For 3 years, we watched this deer on cameras grow and become a unique and sought-after specimen. Through the cameras, we noticed his G4’s had the appearance of crab claws. Because of this unique configuration, we named him "Crabby." We passed on him in December of 2021 as a 3 ½ year old and later in 2022 just to give him some more growth and maturity. During the planting season of 2023, a tractor driver ran over a shed which turned out to be one of Crabby’s. The other half of the shed was not too far down the field, and seeing it, we knew that he would be ready for the next hunting season. On November 24, 2023, we took Crabby down. In honor of the buck, the first Elm Grove Outdoors T-shirt shows a detailed image of Crabby’s antlers, a fitting honor for one of our favorite bucks.
